Paradise Island for Creative Tuesdays. I'm happy to participate in a new link up for the first time! I did this painting after my first visit to the paradise island of Kauai. Kauai is the only Hawaiian island with rivers you can kayak.
Hanalei River, acrylic on canvas |
It was really fun to look for this spot when we went back to Kauai this year...although I used some creative license to change it up for a more pleasing composition.
Rita, welcome aboard! Lovely to have you join Creative Tuesdays and ty for following the guidelines correctly first off the bat!
ReplyDeleteArtistic license is my bane, that's for sure. :) Yes, lovely rendition here. Looks so nice. I want to go there. Never been to anywhere in Hawaii.
i like the feeling of swirling movement here too as I studyit and mentally go down that river.
ReplyDeleteWhohhooo!! And what a stunning first entry! I'm so glad you jumped in. I adore your work and am excited that I get to see more of it! And goodness, that river looks so inviting!

ReplyDeleteWelcome Rita...this is a lovely painting that says Paradise Island very well.
ReplyDeleteYou have captured the beauty of Kauai perfectly. I love how you've done the reflection in the water. Kauai is one of my favirite places on earth. It is so unspoiled and never crowded. My header pic on my blog is from Kauai.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you join CT and you have a lovely blog : )

ReplyDeleteWelcome Rita, I love your interpretation and how you have the reflections in the water and the way you have painted the water as well. Superb!
ReplyDeleteI love shadows over water, so this piece aligns so nicely to my tastes. Those reflections are magnificent. Great piece. Thanks

ReplyDeletegreat work! i like your brush technique - makes it sparkle! and i would LOVE to visit Hawaii. sigh.... Someday. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my Trowbridge Chronicles. Your lovely tropical painting reminds me of my visits to Rarotonga, in the Cook Islands, for my Painting in Paradise workshops.
