Hello Monday

Hello Monday!  It's the first day of school.  My son was so excited (for the first time ever!) to go to school.  He is in the class he wants with his friends.  So happy to have him settled.

My daughter had a rockier start...she wanted to sit next to a friend but instead is sitting in between two boys.  She was excited...for recess.  She's a happy girl, though, and will be fine by the end of the day.

First day at school means first day back to Bikram Yoga for me.  I've only gone to a handful of classes all summer.  I hope I don't die.  I will set my mat up in the back near the door and hope for a teacher who likes to give us a blast of cool air once in a while!

We had a lovely last day of summer:

Took Obi for a walk while waiting for the clouds to burn off.

Baby Blue Bellied Lizard

Surfing lesson...this was his first wave ever and he stood right up!

I made mini muffins so my kids could have a yummy treat in their lunches.

Linking up with Lisa.
How was your weekend?  And how was your Monday?

Puppies!

Those of you who have followed this blog know that we lost our Golden Retriever, Annie, back in January.  The kids started begging for a puppy immediately (even before Annie died, to be honest) but I thought we needed some time to mourn our Annie.  After Annie, who was huge by Golden standards, I wanted a smaller dog but one day I woke up knowing that I really wanted another Golden.  I started looking at breeders and rescue facilities knowing that the beginning of July is the perfect time for us to bring home a puppy.  After a couple of false starts, I saw a post on Facebook from a friend who was getting a Golden and there was one puppy left!  And since the pups were born May 7th, they will be ready to go home the first week of July!  It felt like it was meant to be.

On Mother's Day (after an awesome breakfast in bed!) we drove down to Los Angeles.  We visited the La Brea tar pits, had our first experience with LA food trucks and met our puppy.

Meet out new puppy - he's the one at the top with his face showing.  I have a feeling he will be making very regular appearances on this blog.

We can hardly wait until July and it gives us a good long time to mull over names...any suggestions?

I want to be a better artist

ME TOO!

This was in my daughter's backpack when she came home from school today.

Full Moon Rising

Last night around the time I usually make dinner and the kids do some homework and in between it all I am shooting off work emails, we decided to ditch our responsibilities and go for a walk to the beach.  Sometimes you have to do something unexpected and forget your schedule.  It keeps life interesting and you never know what you will see.

My bruther hase bugirs.

Seven year old Rose decided to write a poem about her brother.

In case you are not adept at reading a first graders phonetic spelling, here is the translation:

My Brother Has Boogers
by Rose

My brother is nice.
He likes to eat spice.
Sometimes I like to wrestle him,
My brother's new name that I am giving him is Kim.
Tonight we go on my mom's phone and talk to Siri, that is one of mom's apps.
My brother likes songs
 but one thing is wrong,
HE HAS boogers!!!!!
