A Very Late Happy New Year

It's still January so I think it's not to late to say Happy New Year.

At the end of last year I was busy making jewelry to sell and holiday craft fairs.  The full time, work from home job I've been lucky enough to have for the last 8 years has changed to (very) part time so I've been focusing on trying to replace the income.  Holiday jewelry sales were good and I added some art to the table...somehow selling art felt so very personal.  

I've been looking for a new job but the going is slow.  And stressful.  So I am making a bigger effort than usual to enjoy the blessings I have.  As I always do at this time of year I enjoy watching the sunsets.  The picture above was taken looking out our kitchen.  

The picture below is from a park just down at the end of our street.  I watch the sky every evening and if it the conditions are right I can sneak away for 15 minutes of sky watching before I make dinner. I never get tired on taking pictures of sunsets.

I hope you are all enjoying 2015 so far.  I am looking forward to what lies ahead...I just wish I knew what it was!

Leadbetter Beach Watercolor and Sunset

My last post showed some watercolor Hungarian Folk Flowers.  I had tried something new...just loose watercolor shapes representing the flowers as I imagined them finished.  Then I did the actual "finishing" in black pen.  I loved the way it looked with the flowers so I tried it with a landscape.  I think it's interesting...needs refinement but kind of cool.

If the tide was low enough to walk around that point you would find the beach where we watched the sunset a few nights ago...

Sunset Watcher

Happy New Year!
A little late but this is my first post of the year. 
At this time of year I love to take sunset pictures and here are a few from the end of last year.

There wasn't much of a sunset this evening but I turned around and saw an opening in the clouds that was all pink lit up.

It's funny and very telling that one of my favorite journal pieces is this watercolor sunset I painted from our lanai looking north over the bluffs of Princeville.  It only took me 15 minutes...which is maybe why it looks so good to me.  I didn't have time to over think and mess it up!

In other big news...we have a new puppy...AND...a new kitty!  The new kitty actually came 10 days ago.  We decided it would be fun to have a kitten and a puppy grow up together.

Full Moon Rising

Last night around the time I usually make dinner and the kids do some homework and in between it all I am shooting off work emails, we decided to ditch our responsibilities and go for a walk to the beach.  Sometimes you have to do something unexpected and forget your schedule.  It keeps life interesting and you never know what you will see.
