Happy Birthday A!

Yesterday it was A's birthday.  She & L are two of my oldest, dearest friends.  L & I went on a Anthropologie shopping spree for A's gift and we needed a card.  I painted these 3 little cards on handmade paper from Spain, texted the pics to L and we decided upon the peacock.  A loved it.  Which one do you like best?

Look at these unbelievable blooms!  I'm not sure what they are called but they blooms faithfully every year with very little fuss.

Illustration Friday - Vocal

Acrylic on Canvas

Normally for Illustration Friday I like to create something new based on the word each week and I was doing just that (see below) when I looked at this peacock painting I did a while back.  It's my imagining of Kauai with peacocks instead of roosters.  This is a peacock enjoying the sunset of the Na Pali coast.  Have you lived near peacocks?  They are very loud and very vocal.
Work in progress
On the opposite end of the bird size spectrum is the hummingbird, perhaps not as loud but no less vocal.  These guys love the Cape Honeysuckle growing outside my bedroom window and it never ceases to amaze me that such tiny creatures can create such a loud sound.
