I've been an unwilling witness to a life falling apart on social media.
A beautiful artist that I know.
Watching her personal chaos has affected me quite a bit,
even though I don't know her very well.
I was thinking of her today and this is what I saw in my mind.

I've never really painted anything like this before.
I wish I could tell her she inspired me, but I don't think she'd hear me.

Let me know what you think.
Be honest.
Sharing on Paint Party Friday.
I see great feeling in this pice, quite moving!
ReplyDeleteWonderful colours and depth, like it very much! There seem to be a lot of emotions in it. Happy PPF, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI think when someone uses black in their work, it speaks volumes. Even if I didn't read your words describing your work, I can see so much angst and the way the paint is streaked suggests pain or anger. But I really love the yellow coming through. Great piece.
ReplyDeleteThis is more than a painting. This is putting your heart and soul on a piece of canvas. You feel your artist friends pain, and your brush captures it. It reminds me of the paintings of Van Gogh on the You Tube of Starry, Starry Night. Deep, dark, and full of meaning. That's my honest opinion. Great work from a great heart.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wanda! That is one of the nicest things anyone has said to me about my art. :)
DeleteI like it. Black is a strong color and I love it.Beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteThis has a such a wonderful 'Van Goghy' feel. You show fragile impressionism with emotion - this is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteluv the pink brush stroke, its says to me joy at looking at the night time sea
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend
much love...
I could look at this for ages, it would be a great painting to have on a wall as it would look different at different times. It doesn't seem traumatic to me, it looks peaceful. I think it is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love this. I agree there is lots of emotion here. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteThis is powerful and beautiful. I am happy to see the signs of hope in the yellow spots.
ReplyDeleteThe painting and your note wrenched my heart. I could feel your pain at your friend's disintegration and her pain too. Perhaps one day you can show it to her and she will know that her life mattered to many people than she knew. Perhaps, that will comfort her.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
Inspiration can come out of darkness - and this piece is gripping. So hope your friend achieves peace.
ReplyDeleteSometimes this is just how it goes. Good job listening to what your insides had to tell you. I personally like it and, with the background information you provided, appreciate the message that it conveys of very deep emotions.
ReplyDeleteAs I look at it I keep wondering what is under that darkness where the light or yellow is. Well done!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece of art :)
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot. The emotion running through it is like a current... I'm sorry about your friend, I hope she's doing better soon.
ReplyDeleteThe texture and color combo is filled with emotion -- beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteI love the mood and energy in this piece. The darkness seems to pull me in... and the splashes of light offer hope. Lovely!
