September is my favorite month.
I was married in September, my birthday is in September and usually our weather is amazing. Our weather is indeed amazing, probably too hot for most around here but I'm not really complaining. My wedding anniversary came and went the other day (14 years!) and my birthday is quickly approaching.
This year September is also full of faces for the 29 Faces challenge. Here is number 4 of 29 Faces.
I created my own version of "Old Fisherman" by Hungarian artist Tivadar Csontvary Kosztka. I'm pretty happy with how he looks. I've never tried a man's face nor an aged face before.
Here is the original. My kids like my version better...they think the original is "too creepy."

What a face! Older and wiser for sure.
ReplyDeleteHappy September and HPPF!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! Painting age is hard. I never can seem to get the wrinkles to look right.
ReplyDeleteYour version is softer for sure but there is still a bit of menace in that visage. Happy September, what a great month for you. xox
ReplyDeleteI think I agree, the original is a little creepy. But, the main thing is you made it yours not just a copy.
ReplyDeleteoh wow!!! you did a great job on this piece...love it!!! Have a wonderful weekend!!!
ReplyDeletewell, so many wonderful things going on-happy anniversary! This month will be our 30th. And a very happy birthday to you! Your fisherman is wonderful-love your interpretation. Looks like at least several PPF artists have opened shop this week. Beautiful jewelry. Best of luck to you!
ReplyDeleteOh, congratulations on your new Etsy shop! That's such a big endeavor! AND for committing to 29 Faces - your subject here is so intriguing and so well done - I tied it once (last Feb) and was exhausted in the end! BUT learned a lot. I look forward to seeing more.

ReplyDeleteYour kids have a point. You made a very interesting interpertation of the original.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on opening your Etsyshop! Love your jewellery! I like your old man better too. He just looks old and tired, the other one looks mean ... ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy September ! Love this work - love the colors too
ReplyDeleteI like your old fisherman a lot.
ReplyDeleteyour fisherman has a lot of personality. the tilt of his head and his eyebrows give him away.
